Imagine a fabulous party broke out with endless champagne and caviar, that just happened to have some of the world’s finest cars strewn about, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what The Quail is like. This is not just a car show – it’s a motorsports gathering.
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, as it’s formally known, has been running third friday of August on the grounds of the Peninsula’s golf course since its debut in 2003.
Of all of the motoring events during car week, this is by far the most exclusive. The cars featured here are the best of the best. While each year focuses on different themes for the show, you will nontheless see a spectacular collection.
You’re also pretty much guaranteed to see several unveilings if you get there early enough. What differentiates The Quail from other motoring events is the sheer number of new cars on display.

My Experience at The Quail
I’d recommend getting there early to check out the cars, and then spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying the hospitality.
It was my first time attending The Quail as part of Car Week, and I could not have been more thrilled. One of the featured themes for this year’s Motorsports Gathering was the 50th Anniversary of the 1973 RS Carrera, and my good friend’s car was one of the featured entrants!
Arriving at the scenic grounds of the Quail Lodge & Golf Club, I was immediately taken in with the vibrant atmosphere buzzing with excitement. We were greeted straight away with a collection of artist designed cars, which included an example by Frank Stella that I particularly adored.
Continuing through the grounds, I found myself surrounded by an impeccable array of vintage classics, modern supercars, and everything in between. Each vehicle was meticulously curated, highlighting the rich history and craftsmanship behind them. From old barn finds to Singers and Paganis, the assortment of automobiles was nothing short of breathtaking.
After being dazzled by car after car for well over an hour, I finally reached the end and thought it was about time to indulge in a glass of that endless champagne. This is a party after all.
Reflecting on my experience at the Quail Motorsports Gathering, it was an enchanting blend of passion, craftsmanship, and camaraderie. It was a true celebration of automotive excellence, an event that left an indelible mark on my heart. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to immerse myself in this world of automotive dreams once again.
